The holiday flag program is an ongoing program in which a day or two before a national holiday a flag is placed in your yard and is picked up a day or two afterward. The first time an individual participates, someone will come to your house and dig a narrow hole that is 15 inches deep. A PVC pipe will be placed in this hole, level to the ground. Then each national holiday, a flag appears in your yard and disappears afterward, without you having to do any work.
The cost for a year is $50, but you can participate anytime. The cost is pro-rated for the remaining holidays in the year.
The holidays covered by the program are:
- President’s Day (February)
- Memorial Day (May)
- Flag Day (June)
- Independence Day (July)
- Labor Day (September)*
- Patriot’s Day -9/11 Anniversary (September)*
- Veteran’s Day (November)
*Flags stay up between these two holidays
